Public Input Sought on Trump's Proposed Arch in DC

The National Park Service is seeking public input on President Donald Trump's proposed 250-foot-tall Triumphal Arch at Memorial Circle, examining potential effects on historic sites including the Arlington Memorial Bridge and Lincoln Memorial.
President Trump proposed the monument to commemorate the United States' 250th anniversary, positioning it at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery as a lasting mark on Washington.
Authorities are evaluating construction impacts on traffic flows, pedestrian access, and plaza development under the National Historic Preservation Act; some residents called it a "waste of taxpayer money."
Residents have until June 15 to submit input for the Assessment of Effects Report online or via email; the National Park Service noted all comments may be made publicly available.
The commission led by former White House staff secretary Will Scharf must finalize approvals, though critics argue the massive scale could disrupt sightlines near the National Mall.
