Pizza Hut will close 250 underperforming U.S. stores in early 2026, cutting about 3% of its locations amid declining same-store sales, Yum Brands said.
- On Wednesday, Yum! Brands disclosed on its Q4 2025 earnings call that Pizza Hut will close 250 underperforming U.S. locations in the first half of this year.
- Struggling same-store sales prompted a formal review that Pizza Hut's U.S. same-store sales fell 3% in Q4 and 5% for the year, and Yum! said the $5 pizza failed to revive sales.
- Under a program called 'Hut Forward,' Yum! said it spent $36,000,000 on the review in 2025, including $32,000,000 in Q4, and wrote off $5,000,000 in franchise assets, with no specific locations disclosed.
- The move would cut into Pizza Hut's national footprint by about 4%, closing 250 units from a U.S. storebase of about 6,360 locations, comparable to Starbucks' 400-unit closure.
