Phantom Blade Zero Goes Crazy On Steam, Hitting Over 700K Players On Its Second Day So Far
The wuxia action game drew 431,541 peak concurrent players and topped Steam’s global best-seller chart after strong early reviews.
On Thursday, October 29, 2026, S-Game released Phantom Blade Zero digitally, with the wuxia action game immediately peaking at over 700,000 concurrent players on Steam within 24 hours.
Anticipation for the release grew after critics awarded an average score of 88 on Metacritic, making it the highest-rated action game of the year. Creative director Soulframe Liang developed the project drawing from his early indie work.
To enhance the wuxia experience, S-Game hired martial arts specialist Donnie Yen as a consultant. CGMagazine praised the world as "beautifully bleak, presenting a world that feels ethereal, dangerous and yet unbelievably beguiling."
While Phantom Blade Zero ranks among 2026's most-played single-player releases, it trails the 2,415,714 peak concurrent player record set by Black Myth Wukong in 2024. Consultant Daniel Camilo noted the game lacks broader cultural reach.
S-Game issued a 5GB patch to improve performance across hardware, refining visuals for mid-range and lower-end PCs. The developer monitors engagement over the Halloween weekend to sustain player momentum.
