The man would have coordinated, financed and facilitated the travel of the victims last March, under the promise that they would work as security personnel at a military base in the Russian Federation.
In Peru, an alleged recruiter of fighters for Russia was detained. In the spring of 2026, the Peruvian Public Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation into a transnational network accused of recruiting former policemen and soldiers to fight against them in the Russian ranks in Ukraine. This was done by offering them false job offers. A suspect has just been placed in pre-trial detention for "trafficking in human beings".
This is the second case that the Peruvian Public Prosecutor's Office prosecutes for human trafficking, which is sent under deception to the war initiated by Moscow in Ukraine.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the investigator would have offered payments of USD 2,300 per month, a bonus of USD 20,000 upon completion of one year of service and the possibility of obtaining Russian nationality.
