Houghton Festival Attendee Dies in Norfolk as Police Investigate
Organisers said emergency teams and Norfolk Constabulary responded immediately as they investigate the death of one attendee at the four-day event.
On August 9, an attendee died at the Houghton Festival in Norfolk after being found unconscious in a tent. Norfolk Constabulary is treating the death as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious.
The boutique electronic music festival held on Houghton Hall's grounds typically draws around 10,000 people. On-site medical teams and Officers responded immediately after the woman was found unresponsive inside a tent.
Norfolk Constabulary confirmed they were called at 8:11pm on August 9 following concerns for a woman found unconscious inside a tent. Despite efforts by on-site medical staff, she was pronounced dead at the scene; her next of kin have been informed.
Houghton Festival organizers stated, "We are deeply saddened to confirm that a person has passed away at Houghton 2026." They thanked on-site medical and response teams for their immediate assistance.
This incident follows a 17-year-old's death at Kendal Calling in the Lake District just over a week ago. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death at Houghton Hall.
