Peel school board 'deeply saddened' after current, former students killed in crash
Police are examining whether the vehicle lacked enough seatbelts for all six occupants and whether speed played a role in the fatal crash.
Early Saturday, a vehicle carrying six young people from the Greater Toronto Area left Watson Road South in Puslinch, Ont., struck a guardrail and careened into a ravine, killing four.
Ontario Provincial Police are investigating whether the vehicle lacked enough seatbelts for all six occupants and if speed was a factor in the fatal crash.
Police confirmed those who died included a 17-year-old girl from Mississauga, a 15-year-old girl from Milton, and two 19-year-old men from Mississauga and Brampton.
The Peel District School Board said it is "deeply saddened" by the loss, which included one current and two former students, while two other teenagers remain hospitalized.
Given the ongoing investigation, authorities have not provided further updates, while the school board continues to offer support to students, families, and staff affected by the incident.
