Action RPG Juggernaut Path of Exile 2 Finally Has Its 1.0 Release Date and It's Coming This Year, at Which Point It Becomes Free-to-Play
- On Tuesday, Grinding Gear Games announced the 1.0 Full Release of The Path during Gamescom Opening Night Live, confirming the free-to-play RPG launches on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox on December 11.
- Arriving almost exactly two years after the initial early access launch, the Full Release completes the campaign with the two remaining Acts and transitions to a Free model, dropping the current Founder Pack requirement.
- Debuting as the game's first sword-wielding character, The Duelist is a new melee-focused class. IGN previously reviewed the early access version as Great for its "redefined action and surprisingly fleshed-out endgame" in their 8/10 review.
- Players can sign up on the Path website for a registration campaign to unlock community rewards, including a pet. Studio footage promises a complete build arrives just in time for the holidays.
- Set in the land of Wraeclast, the next-generation RPG features co-op for up to six players. The sinister threat of Corruption returns to the edge of civilization as the full launch brings the team's vision to life.
