Paris Masters: Carlos Alcaraz Saves Two Match Points to Beat Taylor Fritz in Quarter-Finals and Help Rafael Jodar Qualify for ATP Finals
Shelton reached his third ATP 1000 final after overcoming 17 unforced errors in the opener and rallying past the Frenchman.
On Saturday, world number three Carlos Alcaraz defeated Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-4 to reach his first Paris Masters final, marking his seventh final appearance across nine ATP Masters 1000 events this season.
The Spaniard advanced after fending off two match points during Friday's quarter-final against Taylor Fritz, winning 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 to secure his semi-final spot for the first time.
American Ben Shelton reached his third career ATP 1000 final by rallying from a set down to beat Luca Van Assche 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday.
Shelton's victory and Fritz's quarter-final loss finalized the ATP Finals field, with American Frances Tiafoe and Spanish 20-year-old Rafael Jodar now set to debut at the season-ending tournament in Turin from November 15-22.
Alcaraz and Shelton will face off Sunday to decide the Paris Masters champion, with the Spaniard pursuing his first seasonal Masters crown while the American aims for his third ATP 1000 title.
The American, fourth in the world, defeated Frenchman Van Assche in 2:17 and will fight for his third category 1000 title, after two trophies in Canada.
