Parents outsmarted by their children when it comes to animal knowledge
A OnePoll.com survey found 45% of parents admit children have superior animal knowledge, with 83% of kids valuing proper animal care and 98% expressing affection for animals.
- OnePoll.com polled 1,000 parents and their children and found children know more about animals than their parents, with 45 per cent of parents admitting inferior knowledge.
- Education and media data show children learn most about animals at school , followed by TV , and books , with 59 per cent learning from parents.
- Nearly all children expressed affection for animals, with 98 per cent liking them and 64 per cent identifying what a working animal is, especially in pets, dinosaurs, and mammals.
- SPANA says its programmes aim to inspire respect for working animals, as a third would feel happy and 29 per cent excited to see one in person.
- Eighty-Two per cent of parents reported turning to the internet to find answers to their kids' animal questions, as SPANA's PAWS clubs engage children outside school.
