Parents gifting nostalgic holiday traditions to new generation
Parents are preserving holiday customs through gifts, recipes and rituals as 68% say the season brings back childhood memories, researchers found.
New findings from Talker Research indicate that 62% of parents are actively recreating cherished childhood holiday traditions, aiming to cultivate a lasting sense of seasonal magic for the next generation.
Family traditions and rituals are what parents miss most about the holidays from their own childhood, leading them to prioritize home-cooked recipes and uninterrupted time together.
Among parents who have traveled for big moments, 25% said time away together is key to creating memories, as vacations provide families a chance to step away from everyday distractions.
"What's especially meaningful is seeing parents bring those traditions in," said Annie Roberts, Senior Vice President of Club and Owner Services at Club Wyndham.
With 286 families surveyed, the data reveals a persistent craving for shared experiences as parents continue seeking opportunities for connection while their children grow older.
