Parents arrested after 6-month-old found inside hot car
Parents face charges for endangering a child left in a hot car with broken AC while they attended an event, leading to the infant being revived.
On Saturday, police arrested K'Yana Curry, 32, and Varden Lovett, 51, of Bellefontaine Neighbors after their 6-month-old son was found unresponsive inside an unattended vehicle at the 1400 block of N. Kingshighway Boulevard.
The parents left the infant alone in the parked car while attending the Urban League Expo; temperatures inside the vehicle climbed over 90 degrees while the air conditioning remained broken.
After a passerby called 911, St. Louis Metropolitan Police forced entry to the vehicle and extracted the sweat-covered child; the St. Louis Fire Department then revived the unresponsive infant.
Curry and Lovett face charges of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child resulting in physical injury and are being held without bond pending investigation.
The infant remains in stable condition at a hospital while authorities investigate the incident that occurred during the couple's participation in the Urban League Expo.
