Pair of shutouts in Nashville gives Penn State sole possession of NCAA’s longest D-1 win streak

- Saturday the top-ranked Penn State wrestling team swept two matches at the Journeymen Collegiate Duals, shutting out North Dakota State 46-0 and No. Stanford 42-0 to extend its win streak to 77 duals.
- By scoring bonus points in eight of 10 bouts, Penn State secured eight bonus-point wins including four technical falls and two first-period pins, adding 88 points to team scoring totals of 2,712 scored and 514 conceded.
- Defending national champion Mitchell Mesenbrink clinched the streak with his 37th consecutive fall, while heavyweight Cole Mirasola recorded a 33-second pin and a first-period tech fall.
- Penn State's milestone prompted the Journeymen Duals committee to present a blue-and-white commemorative banner, and the Nittany Lions are off until a Jan. 10 Rec Hall match vs. Rutgers.
- Across the multi-season run, the streak includes 2,029 takedowns, 15 shutouts, and 37 different opponents since Jan. 31, 2020.
