Man Carves Nearly 400 Pumpkins for Halloween Display, Raises Money for Charity
Daniel Taber’s annual Halloween display now includes 392 foam pumpkins and has raised $2,200 for Harvesters through Venmo.
Daniel Taber of Overland Park, Kansas, has created a festive Halloween tradition near 124th Terrace and Nieman Road featuring nearly 400 foam pumpkins that raises money for charity.
Starting 16 years ago with just two pumpkins, Taber has expanded his collection to 392 total, adding 17 new carvings this year to maintain the neighborhood tradition.
Some of the more intricate carvings require 10 to 12 hours of work, and Taber carves nearly all the pumpkins himself with occasional help from his son.
Through his display, Taber collects donations for Harvesters, a regional food bank, using Venmo and has raised $2,200 so far this year, already surpassing last year's total.
Visitors can leave feedback in a suggestion box at the display, and Taber hopes to keep the tradition going to "spread some of that Halloween spirit.
