French PM slams violence at student protests, promises 'timeout' for democracy
French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said there can be "no room for tolerance of violence", as tens of thousands of students took to the streets nationwide on Tuesday to protest over the state of schools. He told parliament that high schools would clear their schedules for the rest of the week to create space for democratic debate and air grievances.
The Prime Minister announced this Tuesday at the National Assembly that there would be a time dedicated to "internal democracy" in high schools this week. Without warning the main concerned, who find themselves having to improvise urgently.
As the high school movement continues to grow, the Prime Minister and the Minister of National Education call for dialogue and return to high school for a "time of internal democracy".
