Second Trailer: Jessica Chastain In "Other Mommy"
Jessica Chastain plays both a mother and a sinister double as the film leans into about 50 jump scares, director Rob Savage said.
- Universal Pictures released a new trailer for Other Mommy, a supernatural horror film starring Academy Award winner Jessica Chastain in dual roles as a protective mother and an unsettling entity mimicking her.
- Directed by Rob Savage, the film adapts Josh Malerman's 2024 novel Incidents Around the House, with Producer James Wan collaborating to create a sound-driven horror experience exploring motherhood and fractured identity.
- Arabella Olivia Clark plays eight-year-old Bela, whose home becomes increasingly frightening when a sinister doppelgänger mimicking her mother Ursula attempts to manipulate the child into letting it inside her heart.
- Estimating around 50 jump scares, Savage emphasizes dread and paranoia over simple frights, while Chastain's physical performance distinguishes between the two mother versions for Blumhouse Atomic Monster's production.
- Continuing a trend of literary adaptations, Other Mommy follows the success of Malerman's Bird Box and positions psychological horror as a growing genre force when it debuts in theaters next month.
