Oregon quarterback Dante Moore not expected to return this season, coach Dan Lanning says
On Monday, Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning announced that quarterback Dante Moore will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a concussion against the USC Trojans on September 26.
Moore sustained the concussion after a late hit by Trojans linebacker Desman Stephens II; USC suspended Stephens for one additional game "as a result of his conduct."
Before being sidelined, Moore maintained a 69.7% completion rate with 926 passing yards in four games, yet Oregon's offense has scored fewer than 20 points in all three games he missed.
Following a 21-10 loss to Illinois on Sunday, Lanning fired offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer, ending Oregon's College Football Playoff hopes; offensive analyst Jay Johnson will assume play-calling duties.
Despite the season-ending injury, Moore remains a top prospect for the upcoming NFL Draft, though Lanning declined to comment on whether the quarterback will return to the Ducks next season.
