Ontario won't make career college OSAP audit public, minister says
Quinn says the government will keep the audit confidential as preliminary findings raise integrity concerns and trigger an Ontario Provincial Police referral.
Today, Ontario Minister Nolan Quinn announced he will not release the government-commissioned KPMG audit into OSAP usage at career colleges, citing confidentiality concerns.
Preliminary findings identified serious integrity concerns regarding OSAP at private institutions, prompting Quinn to refer the matter to the Ontario Provincial Police for investigation.
Career Colleges Ontario has warned the government for years about suspicious OSAP activity at a small number of schools, providing early signals of the sector's vulnerabilities.
The Liberals attempted to force a public probe by requesting the Ontario Legislature's public accounts committee ask the auditor general to investigate, but the Progressive Conservatives voted the motion down.
Although audit results remain confidential to protect the process, Quinn stated he will act on the findings once complete, leaving the specific remedial steps undisclosed.
