Ontario International Airport earns Fitch upgrade as S&P affirms credit strength, reinforcing decade of momentum
Fitch cited robust passenger growth and stronger airline agreements, while S&P said disciplined financial management supports ONT's stable outlook.
On Thursday, October 8, 2026, Fitch Ratings upgraded Ontario International Airport's revenue bonds to A+, while S&P Global Ratings affirmed an A rating, recognizing the airport's financial strength and disciplined management.
The upgrade reflects a decade of transformation since ONT returned to local ownership in 2016, marking the airport's 10th anniversary this fall with sustained growth and strategic regional investment.
Annual passenger traffic has grown to more than 7 million, while independent analysis found the airport generates nearly $5 billion in annual economic output, supporting tens of thousands of jobs throughout the Inland Empire.
Atif Elkadi, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, said the airport has spent the last decade "proving what is possible when an airport has the courage to think differently."
The airport continues to advance its long-term ONT BOLD initiative, which focuses on delivering infrastructure to support rising passenger demand while enhancing the customer experience for Southern California travelers.
