On the 27th anniversary of the Marmara Earthquake of August 17, 1999, structures and belongings submerged in the waters of Gölcük district in Kocaeli were once again photographed by divers. The remains of a hotel, tea garden, and street lamp, located meters below the Değirmendere coastline, once again revealed the devastating effects of the disaster.
Yoshinori Moriwaki, who examined the traces of the Marmara earthquake in Değirmendere, made vital earthquake warnings by scanning underwater remnants.
On the 27th anniversary of the August 17, 1999 Marmara Earthquake, the remains of a hotel, pier, tea garden, and houses submerged by the earthquake in Değirmendere, Gölcük district of Kocaeli, were photographed underwater by municipal divers and DESSAT teams. The area is currently used as a diving site.
