Oliver Tree's Memorial Will Include Multiple Caskets for His Iconic Characters
The event will include live music, videos of Tree’s life and speakers, with proceeds from tickets and streaming going to his foundation.
- On Saturday, July 25, friends and fans will gather at the UCSC Quarry Amphitheater in Santa Cruz to honor late artist Oliver Tree, with the celebration beginning at 7:30 p.m. PST on the university campus where he grew up.
- The celebration follows Tree's death on June 14 in a helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which claimed the lives of the 32-year-old musician and five others; he had performed in Buenos Aires just 10 days earlier during his World First World tour.
- Reflecting the artist's playful nature, the event features a separate casket for each of his iconic personas, with guest speakers including DJ/producer Diplo, YouTuber Ethan Klein, Ethan Mercury, and Logan Paul, alongside unreleased video content and live musical performances.
- Fans unable to attend in person can watch the three-hour event live on Twitch and YouTube, and all proceeds will benefit the Dr. Oliver Trees Extremely Epic Art Grant For Baby Geniuses, which Tree established before his death.
- Born Oliver Tree Nickell in Santa Cruz on June 29, 1993, the prolific artist wrote alt-pop hits including "When I'm Down," "Life Goes On," and "Miss You," released "Ugly Is Beautiful" in 2020, and blurred the line between music and performance through iconic character personas.
