Oklahoma City plays Denver in conference matchup
The Thunder are favored by 8.5 points as both teams enter with key injuries and Denver finished 54-28 last season.
The Denver Nuggets open their season Thursday on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who defeated San Antonio 116-104 on Tuesday in their season opener.
Denver finished 54-28 overall last season, returning a core of Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Aaron Gordon, while the Thunder dominated with a 64-18 record and won the season series 3-1.
Nuggets coach David Adelman said, "We've had a lot of classic games with them over the years," while the Thunder adjusted after trading Luguentz Dort to the Atlanta Hawks this offseason.
Chet Holmgren, who scored 14 points Tuesday, emphasized, "Emotions don't really help you," while teammate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander called him "an All-NBA talent on both ends of the floor."
Oklahoma City enters as an 8.5-point favorite for the home opener, as Adelman expressed interest in "how they match up with him" given Denver's new-look bench additions.
