- Dane Gregoris, managing director at the research firm, said it is "prudent to begin that planning and permitting process now" given historically long lead times for greenfield pipeline projects. The Alberta government is preparing an application for a new West Coast pipeline to reach Asian markets.
- Critical conditions remain unresolved, including an agreement on the Pathways carbon and storage project, while past infrastructure attempts have been stymied by prolonged regulatory reviews and court battles.
- Gregoris advised that given historically long lead times for greenfield projects, producers must secure pipeline capacity now to capitalize on global price volatility driven by the Middle East war.
