Obama endorses Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan in U.S. Senate race
Obama praised Flanagan’s organizing background and Minnesota policy work as she campaigns for universal healthcare and anti-corruption priorities.
On Monday, Oct. 26, Former President Barack Obama endorsed Peggy Flanagan for the Minnesota Senate, citing her record on minimum wage and paid family medical leave.
Flanagan faces Republican Michele Tafoya, who holds an endorsement from President Donald Trump, with just over a week until Election Day.
"It means the world to have the former president's endorsement," Flanagan said, while Obama emphasized her fight for universal healthcare and efforts to take on corruption in Washington.
Recent KSTP/SurveyUSA polling shows Flanagan leading Tafoya by three points, a shift from September when Tafoya had pulled even with her opponent.
With Election Day on Nov. 3 approaching, neither candidate has confirmed if they will campaign with President Trump, though Tafoya welcomes support from all voters.
