NSW government rejects own inquiry’s hate speech findings after months of delay

- Defending the decision, Daley argued that "expanding the racial hatred offence to cover other attributes raises complex questions about freedom of expression, freedom of religion, and the consistent application of the criminal law across the community."
- Criticism intensified as Greens MP Amanda Cohn accused the government of "kicking the can down the road," while the Trans Justice Project called the refusal an "insult to the entire LGBTQI community."
- The government pledged to "continue to consider" other report recommendations alongside findings from the Royal Commission into Anti-Semitism and Social Cohesion, including police training and reporting improvements.
