- On Wednesday, STAT reported that Novo Nordisk increasingly labels Wegovy users as "customers" rather than "patients," marketing the drug as a "weight loss" treatment instead of an anti-obesity medicine.
- Previously, the FDA told Novo that television advertisements using slogans like "Live lighter" were false or misleading, claiming they implied greater weight loss than other GLP-1 drugs without supporting data.
- Presenting real-world data Wednesday, Novo showed patients switching from obesity injections to the Wegovy pill lost roughly 4% of their weight, or an additional 8.8 pounds, after three months.
- Also on Wednesday, Novo announced its experimental drug CagriSema reduced "food noise"—persistent thoughts about food—and showed benefits in bone health and organ function in adults with Type 2 diabetes.
- Martin Holst Lange, Novo's chief scientific officer, noted a growing patient preference for oral treatments as CagriSema prepares to launch early next year, eliminating the need for refrigerated injections.
