Novartis Q3 Profit Declines; Lifts FY26 Core Income View, Backs Sales Outlook
Novartis said core earnings rose 11% and sales increased 4% as priority brands offset generic erosion.
On Tuesday, Novartis AG reported a 70% third-quarter profit decline to $1.196 billion, primarily due to a $1.9 billion partial impairment charge of the del-desiran asset.
Despite the impairment, Novartis reported net sales grew 4% to $14.522 billion, driven by priority brands including Kisqali, Kesimpta, Scemblix, Leqvio, and Cosentyx.
Earnings per share fell to 63 cents from $2.04 a year ago, though core earnings of $2.46 exceeded the $2.25 estimate from Zacks Investment Research.
CEO Vas Narasimhan said the company is "well on track to deliver our mid- and long-term outlook," citing productivity efforts and sales growth.
Novartis raised its fiscal 2026 outlook for core operating income to low single-digit growth while confirming annual net sales expectations.
Novartis raised its projections of results for the year, citing a solid growth in sales and productivity gains, even with recent setbacks in clinical trials that impacted the profit of Swiss pharmacists in the third quarter.
