The racket linked to the 5-hour, 53-minute 2012 Australian Open final sold for $540,000, tripling the previous tennis memorabilia auction record, SCP Auctions said.

Tied to the 2012 final, Resolution Photomatching pegged the racket to the championship point and Djokovic's quarterfinal and semifinal wins; the final against Rafael Nadal lasted 5 hours, 53 minutes.
Previously, the top price was $173,066 for the Wimbledon racket used by Carlos Alcaraz in 2023, and Wells said, 'It proves once again that collectors with the deepest pockets want the best of the best.'
On Sunday, Novak Djokovic is set to play Carlos Alcaraz for his 11th Australian Open title, with a win making him the only player to reach 25 Grand Slams.
The auction house said the sale tripled the previous record for any tennis item, and Brendan Wells said, 'It proves once again that collectors with the deepest pockets want the best of the best.
