Nintendo Donating to Kumamoto Earthquake Relief
Nintendo announced via its official corporate social media account that it is donating 50 million yen (~$316,745) to the Japanese Red Cross to support the Kumamoto earthquake relief. The company added on its official website that it is also offering free repairs of its products to users affected by the earthquake. Regarding the Kumamoto-Shin-Minamata section of the Kyushu Shinkansen, which remains suspended due to the effects of the 2026 Kumamoto earthquake, JR Kyushu President Yoji Komiya stated on the 6th that "we would like to discuss a timeline for resuming operations by the end of August," revealing that the timing of the resumption of service is still uncertain.
