Northern Nevada train derailment halts east-west rail traffic

A westbound Union Pacific freight train hauling tons of corn derailed and crashed into the 12th Street Bridge early Wednesday. No one was injured, and no dangerous chemicals were onboard. The derailment was reported about 4:52 a.m. with at least 16 cars carrying corn knocked off the rails and into heaps of twisted metal, unattached wheels, train parts and mounds of corn.
