- On Saturday night, No. 23 North Texas Mean Green defeated San Diego State Aztecs 49-47 in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl, outgaining SDSU 618 yards to 532.
- Dominant rushing by North Texas saw Caleb Hawkins carry 30 times for 197 yards with two rushing touchdowns, while Ashton Gray ran for 152 yards and Cameron Dormer caught two touchdown passes.
- Drew Mestemaker completed 27 of 47 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns, Nathan Acevedo returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown, and Kyle Crum scored two rushing touchdowns in SDSU's fourth-quarter rally.
- San Diego State Aztecs scored with one second left to cut the gap to two points but came up short, and No. 23 North Texas Mean Green led 42-20 entering the fourth quarter to finish 12-2.
