No. 10 Oklahoma has another stout defense and its QB back. The run game is a question mark
No. 10 Oklahoma finished the 2025 season with a 10-3 record and could compete for the national championship if they maintain a strong defense, improve their running game, and navigate a tough early road schedule.
The defense is led by defensive end Taylor Wein and linebackers Owen Heinecke and Kip Lewis, with former five-star recruit David Stone expected to play a larger role at tackle.
Starting quarterback John Mateer, leading receiver Isaiah Sategna, four starting offensive linemen, and kicker Tate Sandell return, boosting the team's offense.
Mateer passed for 2,885 yards with 14 touchdowns and ran for 431 yards with eight scores last season; however, Oklahoma ranked 13th in rushing in the Southeastern Conference, averaging 118.5 yards per game.
