Λίγο πριν τις 10 το πρωί αστυνομικοί έκαναν σήμα σε μία μηχανή να σταματήσει, αλλά ο οδηγός ωστόσο δεν υπάκουσε στο σήμα των αστυνομικών και συνέχισε. Οι αστυνομικοί ακολούθησαν  την μηχανή και είδαν τον οδηγό να ρίχνει ένα τσαντάκι στη συμβολή των οδών Αναπαύσεως και Πλάτωνος.
