Grandmother Gets Halloween Surprise After Grandson Asks Community to Trick-or-Treat
Dozens of trick-or-treaters answered a grandson’s social media plea, giving Pauline Fiest a surprise Halloween celebration and a strong show of community support.
On Saturday, grandmother Pauline Fiest received a surprise Halloween turnout in Manchester, New Hampshire, after her grandson Cade Bearfield posted on social media requesting community support.
Bearfield sought visitors because his family had seen few trick-or-treaters since moving to the corner of Spruce and Cypress Street, hoping to make the holiday special for Fiest before her retirement.
Dozens of trick-or-treaters arrived before dusk, with Charlene and her family making the home their 'first stop.' "I said that's our first stop; before we do anything, we're going to make this woman's Halloween special," Charlene said.
Dressed as Elmo, Fiest expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support. "You can pass out candy, see all these cute kids in their costumes; it's fun," Fiest said.
Beatrice Whiteman, who saw the post on social media, attended to support the effort. "Thought it was a really cool thing that someone was doing and just wanted to come out and support the community," Whiteman said.
