Next UK Heatwave June Date on the Horizon with Scorching 30C Blast
Weather maps show 16 counties could reach 28C or more, with highs of 30C possible in the south-east, forecasters said.
The GFS weather model forecasts a return to 30C heat across parts of Britain starting June 11, ending the current grey and damp spell that has characterized early June.
Following a scorching heatwave last month, temperatures have dropped to seasonal averages; the beginning of June has remained unsettled with strong winds and heavy showers across the country.
Maps indicate 16 counties could reach 28C or more starting June 14, with Essex, Yorkshire, and Gloucestershire among areas expecting sweltering conditions and London likely experiencing peak heat around 30C.
The Met Office warns that while temperatures could turn hot before the month ends, thunderstorms remain possible; forecasters predict a mix of sunshine and heavy showers in the near term.
A heatwave is defined as three or more consecutive days meeting specific temperature thresholds; longer-range forecasts suggest warmer, settled conditions become increasingly likely during the second half of June across the UK.
