Market participants get access to early and late sessions for SPY, IWM and GLD options as NYSE plans a 23-hour trading window next year.
- On Oct. 19, 2026, the New York Stock Exchange launched extended trading hours for NYSE American Options, providing market participants with additional access to options listed on the exchange.
- This fresh offering reflects growing demand for derivatives products and an appetite for 24/7 trading instruments; investing in technology drives market progress, said Kevin Tyrrell, Chief Product Officer, NYSE.
- Eligible symbols include SPY, IWM, GLD, and large-cap technology names, with the new early session operating from 7:30 AM to 9:25 AM and the late session from 4:00 PM to 4:15 PM.
- The New York Stock Exchange follows CBOE, which previously announced extended trading for 25 single stocks and five ETFs, though volumes were very muted for this first extended session.
- Beginning Dec 6, 2026, the New York Stock Exchange will extend trading to 23 hours, five days a week, reflecting the broader trend of extended hours trading hitting record levels of more than 199,000 contracts.
