New Vancouver Convention Centre space honours Orange Shirt Society
The public display features educational content, Indigenous histories and the official Every Child Matters crosswalk, and will remain open year-round.
Ahead of Orange Shirt Day on September 30, the Vancouver Convention Centre dedicated a new public space in its Harbour Concourse, created in collaboration with the Orange Shirt Society and Pavilion Corporation .
Connecting annual remembrance with broader learning, the space features educational content from the Orange Shirt Society about truth-telling and reconciliation.
The exhibit includes the official Every Child Matters crosswalk designed by Squamish Nation councillor Jody Broomfield, while Pavco board chair Gwendolyn Point and Vancouver Convention Centre general manager Craig Lehto spoke at the unveiling.
"My story has now become a national movement rooted in the truth that Every Child Matters," said Co-Founder Phyllis Webstad. The space honours Survivors and remembers children who never came home.
Beyond the September 30 launch, the site remains open to the public year-round, inviting visitors to experience Indigenous histories and walk the path of truth and reconciliation together.
