- On Tuesday, the Ontario government launched Student and Family Support Offices at all 72 school boards across the province, with Education Minister Paul Calandra announcing the expansion to help parents navigate education system concerns.
- The program originated last fall at eight school boards placed under provincial control due to alleged mismanagement; success in those districts, where 95 per cent of inquiries were acknowledged within two business days, informed the province-wide expansion.
- These offices do not replace existing school-level resolution processes but provide a centralized pathway for complex issues. "We are making sure every parent has a clear way to raise concerns, get answers, and access the support that they need," Calandra said.
- Superintendent of Education Adele Filice is leading the new office at the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, describing it as "an additional pathway for students and families to access guidance and support" for roughly 30,000 students.
- The Ministry of Education will collect data from all 72 boards to identify patterns and trends in parent concerns, aiming to ensure resources are effectively directed toward student success and accountability across the province.
