New pictures of beautiful girl, 9, released as murder trial begins
Aria Thorpe’s family shared the photos as the trial opened, while the 16-year-old defendant faces murder charges in her stabbing death.
The murder trial of a 16-year-old boy for the death of Aria Thorpe began Monday at Bristol Crown Court. She died from a single stab wound at her home in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, on 15 December last year.
Avon and Somerset Police stated the family 'deliberately' selected six photos to be 'associated' with Aria during the proceedings. These images capture the girl on a London trip, including one in front of Big Ben.
Tom Thorpe, Aria's father, described the loss as 'devastating' and recalled her 'wacky ways.' He misses the journeys where she would ask him to test her with 'numbers.'
Her mother's family remembered her as 'the most beautiful little soul — happy-go-lucky, full of light, and joy.' She loved to sing and dance, taking pride in dressing up.
