- Albuquerque attorney Randi McGinn argued the penalty must affect Meta's stock price, while Meta attorney Matt Nicholson called the request an "astronomical penalty" and urged the judge to cap damages at $3.45 billion.
- Judge Francis Mathew did not indicate a specific award amount during the hearing and said he expects to issue a ruling within the next three weeks after giving parties time to submit additional briefs.
- If approved, the judgment would be the largest in U.S. history, dwarfing previous settlements including the $5 billion paid to the Federal Trade Commission in 2019 to resolve consumer protection cases.
