Vernon's Bill's Place Planning 36-Bed Expansion Supported by $2.5 Million Donation
The Foord Family Foundation’s $2.5 million gift leaves $3.9 million to raise for the 13,500-square-foot facility.
- On Aug. 25, Turning Points Collaborative Society announced a $6.4 million expansion for Place Addiction Recovery in Vernon, adding 36 treatment beds and increasing facility capacity by 133 per cent.
- The Foord Family Foundation provided a $2.5 million leadership gift to launch the campaign, which Randene Wejr, CEO of TPCS, described as a "statement of belief" in the project and its mission.
- Place Addiction Recovery currently receives approximately 350 referrals annually with a six-month wait list; the new facility aims to reduce that to around one month.
- Brad Houghton, executive director of addiction services at TPCS, confirmed the facility will maintain its therapeutic environment while adding dedicated learning and dining spaces, with land ownership and permits already secured.
- TPCS aims to break ground as early as spring 2027, with construction taking 13 to 15 months; the organization must raise $3.9 million more to fully fund the expansion.
