Minnesota Man Accused of Defrauding $263K in Government Assistance

- On Friday, April 17, 76-year-old Vincent Bellomo was booked into Hubbard County Jail after being charged with defrauding government assistance programs of over $263,000.
- Bellomo opened an undisclosed Northwoods Bank account in October 2017 with a $43,425 deposit and failed to report the assets during annual benefit renewals, rendering him ineligible for benefits.
- Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension analysis found the "vast majority" of deposits and withdrawals, totaling $227,319, were tied to Bellomo, while his son Blaze Bellomo admitted the account was a joint idea.
- Following an arrest warrant issued March 24, officers apprehended Bellomo in Fontana, California, and he waived extradition from a jail in nearby Rancho Cucamonga before Hubbard County officers picked him up.
- Bellomo remains in custody awaiting an initial appearance in Hubbard County District Court on April 27 regarding overpayments across SNAP, Supplemental Aid, and Medical Assistance totaling $263,949 between 2017 and 2025.
