A WAVE of VIOLENT student protests in France has resulted in nearly 2,000 arrests, hundreds of injuries and the closure of more than 400 schools.

Police arrested 1,949 people and injured 305 police officers and gendarmes on Thursday during student blockades and protests in France that turned violent, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said in the evening. Protests took place in 900 locations across all French departments, AFP reported.
