Nearly $1M in stolen property recovered after suspect caught breaking into Holt Renfrew in Mississauga: police
Peel Regional Police recovered nearly $1 million in stolen property and arrested a Mississauga man following an investigation into an April 30 break-in at Square One Shopping Centre.
On April 30, a masked suspect allegedly broke into Holt Renfrew at the mall, stealing 'high-value jewelry and clothing' from multiple displays before fleeing and stealing an unoccupied vehicle.
Officers identified 41-year-old Amir Nikbakht as the suspect after executing a search warrant at his home, where they recovered the stolen goods; Nikbakht faces multiple charges including possession of break-in instruments and disguise with intent.
Peel Region Deputy Chief Marc Andrews stated retail theft leaves a 'huge impact' on businesses, while Stephen Gascoine, the mall's general manager, said the arrest reinforces commitment to safety.
Arrests and charges have increased by more than 30 per cent since the Break and Enter Auto and Retail Organized Crime Unit launched in Sept. 2025, reflecting intensified enforcement.
