NDLEA intercepts N6.2bn worth of 'Jihadi drug' in Ghana soap

- On Sunday, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency announced massive seizures at Murtala Muhammed International Airport , intercepting 47,200 Captagon pills and over 3.9 million opioid tablets worth more than N6.2 billion.
- Traffickers are increasingly using creative concealment methods, including hiding illicit drugs inside blocks of soap and fireproof iron safes, prompting agency Chairman Buba Marwa to urge officers to maintain operational pressure.
- Regional commands intensified interdiction efforts between August 26 and August 28, recovering 728kg of skunk in Ondo State and more than 176,000 opioid pills across Delta State during separate operations.
- Officers arrested cross-border kingpin Akinbile Kazeem Aikins on August 22 for trafficking Captagon, while separate operations in Lagos led to the detention of US returnee Sowunmi David Oludotun for importing Loud cannabis.
- Beyond enforcement, the NDLEA continued its nationwide War Against Drug Abuse sensitization campaigns this week, conducting enlightenment lectures for students and youths in Gombe, Kano, and Edo states.
