Washington Wizards win NBA draft lottery, chance to pick No. 1 overall on June 23

On Sunday, the Washington Wizards won the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery and secured the No. 1 overall pick, represented on stage by former All-Star John Wall.
Washington entered Sunday tied with the Indiana Pacers and Brooklyn Nets for the best odds at 14% after finishing with a 17-65 record, the worst in the NBA.
ESPN analyst Jay Bilas described the 2026 class as the "deepest freshmen class" he remembers, with top prospects including BYU's AJ Dybantsa, Kansas guard Darryn Peterson, Duke's Cameron Boozer, and North Carolina's Caleb Wilson.
The 2026 NBA Draft will take place on June 23 and 24 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn following the lottery held in Chicago.
