N.B. premier directing public institutions to stop buying American amid trade war
New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt directed public institutions to avoid buying American products when Canadian alternatives exist, responding to new U.S. tariffs.
Starting October 1, Holt's government will ban purchases of U.S. goods and services for contracts over $5 million due to recent trade actions.
The government will explore possible restrictions on Americans obtaining fishing and hunting licenses and mining claims in New Brunswick.
New Brunswick will provide funding to affected local businesses and launch a market diversification strategy along with a buy-local campaign.
