Nancy Mace’s ex-fiance, 2 other men face sex crime charges after her accusations in House speech
SLED said the men face sex crime and obstruction charges after investigators reviewed witness statements, security footage and other evidence from the 2018 case.
- On Wednesday, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged three men—John Douglas Osborne, Brendan Patrick Bryant, and Eric Bernard Bowman—with sex crimes and voyeurism stemming from an alleged 2018 incident on Sullivan's Island.
- Republican Representative Nancy Mace publicly accused the trio of sexual misconduct during a February 2025 House speech, describing evidence of exploitation she discovered while engaged to Bryant.
- Osborne faces first-degree assault and battery plus two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, while Bryant and Bowman each face voyeurism charges; Bowman additionally faces obstruction of justice and publishing a victim's name.
- All three men were booked into the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center in Charleston County, as Mace released a statement detailing 25 proposed bills to strengthen victim protections.
- Bryant previously denied the allegations; the 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office will prosecute the case, though authorities emphasize these charges are allegations and the defendants remain unconvicted.
