Road Reopens After Incident Involving Man on A19 in North Yorkshire
Police said officers quickly found the man, and an ambulance and air ambulance were sent as the A19 was closed temporarily.
North Yorkshire Police closed a section of the A19 on Friday morning after receiving a welfare report about a man near Thirsk at 10.29am, with officers locating him quickly and arranging appropriate support.
Unconfirmed reports indicated a naked man running alongside the A19, prompting officers to attend immediately following the 10.29am welfare concern near Northallerton.
Multiple emergency services including an ambulance and air ambulance responded to the scene between Knayton and Thimbleby, with one person transported to hospital; the AA reported severe delays of around 11 minutes with speeds of 10 mph on the A19 Northbound.
The southbound carriageway reopened by 11.40am, with northbound traffic resuming shortly after midday, as North Yorkshire Police thanked motorists for their patience during the temporary closure.
Ongoing support from relevant agencies has been arranged for the individual, while Samaritans remain available 24/7 on 116 123 for anyone facing difficult circumstances.
