The victory in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), Sunday, during the first round of the elections, masks disappointing scores in many French cities where the deputies of La France insoumise are implanted.

The first round of the municipal elections was marked by the unrelenting victory in Saint-Denis of the insoumis Bally Bagayoko against the socialist outgoing Mathieu Hanotin. The Melenchonist movement also took an option in La Courneuve and Bagnolet.

LFI also wins the francilian city of Saint-Denis and takes the lead in La Courneuve and Roubaix. In many cities where the insoumis are in third position, the question of union with socialist or ecologist candidates will arise for the second round.
The candidate LFI defeated the coalition of the outgoing socialist mayor, Mathieu Hanotin, on Sunday 15 March, with 50.9% of the vote.
