Public Health Issues Boil Water Advisory for Parts of Greater Sudbury
The advisory follows adverse water samples and stays in place until testing confirms a safe supply, officials said.
On Wednesday, Public Health Sudbury & Districts issued a boil water advisory for all residents of Sudbury, New Sudbury, and Falconbridge following reports of adverse water samples.
Officials are investigating the source of adverse samples at the David Street Water Treatment Plant and Falconbridge Water Treatment Plant, with the advisory serving as a precaution.
Residents must boil tap water for at least one minute before consuming or use bottled water, while nearby communities including Copper Cliff, Coniston, Walden, Garson, Val Caron, Azilda, Chelmsford, Dowling, Skead, and Onaping remain unaffected.
Burgess Hawkins, a manager in Public Health's Health Protection Division, stated officials do not believe anyone who has consumed the water will experience any ill health effects.
The advisory will remain in effect until bacteriological testing confirms the water supply is safe, with Public Health staff currently taking additional samples from treatment plants.
